In partnership with Bona Fide Press we helped faciliate the creation of this unique first book by artist, Sarah F. Peterson, an alphabet book with 26 original watercolors of insects. Sarah, born and raised in Aspen, frequently returns from her home in Hygiene, CO to teach watercolor classes and exhibit her work in the Roaring Fork Valley. She long desired to make a book of her work and came to the Project Shop eager to learn and help produce this edition. This book was inspired by Sarah's grandson's tender attention to all things six-legged, winged, and teeny.

Sarah joined artists at The Project Shop in Carbondale in collaboration with Bona Fide Press, to hand stitch and bind this limited edition. The unique binding allows the 100% recycled paper pages to lay flat, showcasing the intricate paintings reproduced with a high-quality printing process that accurately captures the detail from the original paintings.

Thing is, the artist becomes the art these days. These are the writings, photos and doodles of a life spent sleeping in the saddle. Non-selfish refinement through thousands of miles, you get the deal.

“So you sticking around for long?” Let us consider the answer has always been no. These pages have been worked and reworked for over 5 years, clearly proving I'm consistent and very inconsistent. The photographs are not strong enough to stand alone, the drawings aren't good enough to frame, and the poetry is kind of lazy but composed together, they hold up. This romanticizes a life spent sleeping in the saddle, a dance between lust and loneliness.. It’s a steadily soul tired life of making objects for galleries. This book keeps a medium safe from decadent capitalism. A wild ride makes a good poem don't it? It most certainly would not have been seen without The Project Shop. There’s only 25 of em, so be sure to hang onto it.
