COMMUNITY ART ACTIVATION

Believing Art matters.

On Nov 22, the shop hosted a gathering of community members in solidarity with Fall of Freedom - a nationwide call to artists to rise up and celebrate the power of creative expression. Our afternoon of artmaking, and performances was incredible.

We hosted and offered screenprinting of the Red Card Rights list of constitutional rights (in English and en Español) for citizens and non-citizens alike. We held space for community members to come and celebrate democracy and speak to the founding rights important to them. And we witnessed some amazing moments: two 8th graders reciting the Declaration of Independence from memory; an improvisational dance troupe dancing through the crowd; a drag queen singing a spirited RESPECT in front of the NO KINGS sign; projected video content; collaborative mural making; freedom video tributes; button making galore; and lady liberty painting.
