our Service Projects
{raising funds and awareness}
*Service-learning is an educational approach that combines learning objectives with community service in order to provide a pragmatic, progressive learning experience while meeting societal needs.-Wikipedia

Community Service Projects engage student-artists to learn practical design development, printmaking and production skills, with access to equipment and instruction in a safe, supportive and inclusive environment. Through personal instruction and community workshops, the student-artists will be involved in every aspect of producing artwork and presenting it to demonstrate how art can encourage conversation within our communities.
Each young artist dives into the design development process in collaboration with Project Shop artists to help translate their ideas to image. Various printmaking techniques are explored and upon selecting the best application for the student's vision we head into production. Community workshops are hosted at the shop for public participation to learn printmaking and production skills while giving back to the community. All proceeds from product sales are donated to the non-profit or cause chosen by the artist.
The most important lesson I learned from my time under Reina’s mentorship was the courage I gained to speak my mind. Disagreements and hostility accompanies any social justice advocacy. Reina’s relentless rallying and uplifting encouragements created a space where I felt brave and safe enough to speak my mind... I am now better exposed and equipped to have conversations with people of opposing views; beyond that, the project was a vector for me to have the courage to have a voice in the Roaring Fork Valley, overcoming the intimidating vulnerability of using my words.
So whether that is on racial equality, climate awareness, or reproductive healthcare, I would love it for my peers to have the same opportunity and experience of growth as I did.
The service-based projects not only allow the younger generation to shine light on current issues, but are also bridges of connections between individuals and the wider community."

“I’ve learned as much about screen printing as I have learned about myself through this process. When to be soft and when to be strong. To practice patience when things don’t go as planned and to be persistent. I have to leave ego at the door and come in as a child ready to play and learn.”
