Artist Statement about the Design
Holding myself accountable to give the project an informed foundation, I dedicated time to researching abortion rights and interviewed Rebecca Binion, director of the Planned Parenthood in Glenwood Springs. I distilled the web of information into one precise message: access to abortion is about providing safe health care for women, which should be an issue between a woman and her doctor.

WORDS ON COLLABORATING WITH MANDY on this edition of the CSA
Supporting Mandy investigate the origins of this issue made clear that the topic of abortion is not black and white. The courts are a black and white space. Topics like this one have highlighted how problematic absolute rulings on complicated situations can be. Through her research the number 19-1392 was a graphic in her handwriting that held a lot of power. 19-1392 is the doc number assigned to the underlying case: Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, which was filed 3/19/2018 regarding the constitutionality of a Mississippi law that banned abortions after 15 weeks of pregnancy. Using a mono-print technique we brought these shirts to life where each print is entirely unique and not black nor white. The countless shades of gray represent the innumerable circumstances that deserve consideration and we hope encourage our communities to allow such decisions as abortion to remain an issue between the woman her healthcare provider. - REINA
